We have a limited stock of American hazelnuts that are one-year old plants. We will ship these out as bare roots beginning in November. It's ideal that they are planted in the ground then and kept watered well until established. These plants were seedlings grown from our prime stock of hazelnut trees.
Currently they are around 12-16" tall and will be trimmed before shipping. Once ordered, you will receive an email in November once we have packaged your order and it is shipping out.
Hazelnut Planting & Care
- Once your hazelnut arrives, immediately unpackage and water. Plant in the soil within 24 hours of receiving your start.
- Plant in fertile soil with a pH between 5.5-7.5.
- Plant in a full to part sun location for optimal nut production.
- Water regularly the first year until fully established.
- Yearly pruning is not necessary but can help maintain the size and shape. Regularly remove diseased or dead branches.
American Hazelnut Information

- Mature trees reach 10-18 feet in height.
- Reaches maturity in 4-5 years.

American hazelnut trees are a fast growing and rewarding tree here in the Midwest. You will love the fall foliage colors and of course, the delicious, edible hazelnuts!
