Make your own AMERICAN elderberry syrup with freeze-dried American elderberries!
 
Enjoy making an American elderberry syrup with the whole family!  Our kit offers Midwest sourced, freeze-dried American elderberries, spices and Missouri honey from Giofre Apiaries.  You'll make around 3 to 6 cups of syrup, depending on the taste you like.

Chances are if you are finding dried elderberries at the store, they have been imported from across the globe and not grown here in the USA.  Our Freeze-Dried American Elderberries are native to the US and grown on farms throughout the Midwest.  You'll notice that our syrup recipe is done on low heat in a crockpot and does not require boiling.  Why?  Because Sambucus canadensis, or American elderberries do not need to be boiled to consume.  Unlike others imported from around the globe.  We think you'll be plesantly surprised at how the freeze-dried berries offer more flavor than dried elderberries, all while maintianing more nutrients because of the low heat process.
 
Note that this recipe is also designed to be made in a crockpot, but can be done on the stovetop.
You will also need a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, and clean jars to store your syrup in.
