American Elderberry Salad Dressing

It's that time of year, greens are popping up in the garden and we are craving salads! Nothing is more refreshing than a crisp salad with a freshly made vinaigrette dressing. A vinaigrette contains vinegar, a sweetener and oil. The combination of oil and vinegar coats the salad ingredients nicely and is known to be one of the healthier dressing options out there.

American Elderberry Syrup & Salad Dressing

Elderberry salad dressing is delicious and fresh. It's great paired a goat cheese, nuts, fruits and more. Personally, I love this elderberry salad dressing with spinach, crisp red onions and chewy, partially dried cranberries. It's extremely versatile though, so don't hesitate to get creative with your recipes!

American Elderberry Salad Dressing is Fast & Easy!

Today we are going to offer you two ways to make this salad dressing: the first with our American Elderberry Syrup and the second a healthier option, made with our American Elderberry Juice. These recipes require no cooking and can be served immediately.

American Elderberry Salad Dressing 1

Made with River Hills Harvest American Elderberry Syrup

You'll need:

  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, or a similar oil you prefer.

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar.

  • 1/4 cup River Hills Harvest American Elderberry Syrup.

To make:

  • Stir all 3 ingredients together and serve immediately, or chill.

  • Feel free to add salt pepper or combination of your favorite spices.

  • Depending on how much you want to make at once, just use equal parts of each ingredient to get your desired amount.

Our American Elderberry Syrup is a delicious syrup, similar in consistency to maple syrup. It's thick and rich! It starts with our American Elderberry Juice. This is a true sweet syrup and contains quite a bit of sugar. We wouldn't recommend supplementing your diet with this syrup, instead, read more about our American Elderberry Juice HERE.

American Elderberry Salad Dressing 2

Made with River Hills Harvest American Elderberry Juice

You'll need:

  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, or a similar oil you prefer.

  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar.

  • 3 tablespoons River Hills Harvest American Elderberry Juice.

  • 1 tablespoon local (to you), raw honey.

To make:

  • Stir all ingredients together and serve immediately, or chill.

  • Feel free to add salt pepper or combination of your favorite spices.

  • You may want more or less American Elderberry Juice and honey, depending on your taste.

  • You could also use maple syrup, agave, sugar or stevia in place of the honey. I would start by combining the other ingredients, then add your desired sweetener to your liking last.

  • Try our Raw, Elderberry Balsamic Vinegar for extra elderberry taste and/or our Elderberry Creamed Honey!

I hope you have enjoyed this easy and quick salad dressing recipe. You can use it as a base to experiment with other syrup-based vinaigrettes. Try your hand at infusing your own vinegars as well and you'll delve into a whole new world of flavors! Some of the best I have had with elderberry are pear vinegar and persimmon vinegar. Stay tuned for more seasonal recipes made with our American elderberries...

Until next time, cheers to your health!
